How to Broaden Your Personal Training Clientele

August 25th, 2013 9:38 pm

Becoming a personal trainer can be difficult, but in this new age of health awareness and fitness investment, it can be a very rewarding career path for those who do it right.

So the question then, is how do you do it right? What is the best way to become a personal trainer? While there is no one size fits all answer to this question, there are some good steps that should be taken by anyone serious about becoming a personal trainer. This article will briefly expound on a few of these steps, and this site can guide you through more detailed instructions on these individual steps.

Get in Shape

It is common for people to choose their personal trainers based on what they would like to look like. If one wants to become cut and slim, they will choose a trainer with a cut and slim body. If one wants to become muscle, then they will seek out a personal trainer that has the same body type. If one wants to become doughy and flabby—oh wait—nobody would want that ever.

Choose Your Areas of Expertise

There are many different ways to work the body. I think it is safe to say that there has never been a larger variety of exercise techniques as there are today. From Zumba, to martial arts, to weight training, to circuit training, to step aerobics, and so much more- there is an exercise medium for just about anyone. Your job here will be to choose which of these forms of exercise you would want to train others in.

Train in Your Areas of Expertise

Once you have chosen your areas of expertise- get some training in them. Take classes, buy videos, check out books, and just become all around experienced in those mediums of exercise. You can’t be a good personal trainer if you are not solid in your knowledge of your specialties.

Get Certified

There are many different kinds of personal training certifications out there. Get certified in as many of these fields as possible. This will broaden your spectrum of expertise and will give you a wider clientele base to work with. Each certification route is different has the benefits vary. Take a look at the articles on this site about some of the different personal training certifications available.

Market Yourself

Whether you choose to work from your home, make personal calls, or join a large gym as a staff trainer, you will want to get your name out there. Utilize word of mouth, the internet, social media, post fliers, and all the other ways you can think of to get your name and abilities out there to your market place. A personal trainer who is certified and fit will not go far without people to personally train.

Essential Exercises to Take Care of Your Eyes for Computer Users

August 8th, 2012 6:15 am

Making a few minor changes and following a few exercises could be all that is required for effective eye care.

The right position: Maintaining the correct position in front of your monitor is vital not only for the eye but also for avoiding back and wrist problems. Try and maintain about an arm’s length between your eyes and the screen. The screen should not be higher than your eye level; ideally it should be 20 degrees below.

Proper light: The room lighting can also be an important factor in eye care. The light should not fall directly on the screen and neither should it come from the back and cause reflection to occur. Go for an internal or external glare screen and adjust the settings to suit you.

Anti-glare glasses: If you have glasses then ask your optometrist for anti-glare coating. Frequent users even without glasses could have special glasses made with anti-glare. This reduces discomfort and eases the strain on the eyes.

Follow the 20:20 rule: This is essential in proper eye care if you spend too much time in front of the screen. After every 20 minutes of screen viewing, look away at objects that are at least 20 feet away. This is instrumental in changing the eye’s focal length and reducing strain. Next rule is to blink the eyes 20 times to prevent dry eyes.

Use artificial tear drops: When we work on the computer we often forget to blink naturally and this causes drying of the eyes. Apart from remembering to blink frequently, it is advised to use artificial tear drops for moistening in proper eye care routine.

Do this exercise: Sit straight and rub the palms until they feel warm. Next, cup your eyes lightly and relax for a minute. Repeat this exercise whenever your eyes feel strained. This eye care exercise will help to ease the strain on tired eyes.

Tea bags for eye care: using cold tea bags straight from the refrigerator can soothe your eyes and relieve tiredness. This also helps to reduce puffiness around the eyes. This can be done at the end of a day in front of the screen.

Eat an eye friendly diet: Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits. Also include colors in your diet. Eye care with eating right works well and these foods do wonders to your general fitness too. Your diet should include dairy products too.
